and much more!
Margarita Alicea, better known as Abuela is an incredibly cheerful and kind soul.

From Puerto Rico's countryside to the hectic metropolis of NYC, Abuela, an 85-year-old dynamo, swapped horseback for taxis, embracing an illustrious nursing career while single-handedly raising three kids—aided only by her unconventional babysitter: the family dog. Her life, marked by resilience and a zest for living fully, showcases her unique blend of warmth, wit, and wisdom.

Abuela learned English the hard way since English for Spanish speakers was not a thing yet. She went to a boarding school in Pennsylvania led by nuns, before going back to Puerto Rico during high school.

Abuela followed her passion for helping people by becoming a nurse. She has been a nurse for 63 years!

Abuela emphasizes that she holds no grudges and that the hardships she went through made her more resilient.
She knew no one would give her anything and she was put on this Earth for a reason. She overcame the challenges and adversities put before her.

Her mission is to never hold grudges, treat everyone as a friend, and help make their lives better.
